In this sample Extreme Adventure you will start by rafting the Pacuare River not once, but twice! You get to challenge yourself on 2 sections of the Pacuare, ranked one of the top 10 rivers in the world. From there we have Thermal Hot Springs, Waterfall Jumping, Mountain Biking, & finish off with a Catamaran Tour. – Note: All of our trips will be customized to your travel style and budget, this is just an example package.
Extreme Costa Rica Adventure - With this example package we start with some serious white water rafting fun! You will find yourself on one of the top 10 rivers in the world, the Pacuare River! You will raft 2 sections of the river on different days. This example package starts out deep in the rain forest cut off from the world before heading back to civilization and more adventure! Next find your self rappelling down waterfall and jumping into canyon rivers! These trips are customized to your travel style so the tours can change based on your interests.
In this example Extreme Adventure Package, we are using San Jose (SJO) for the arrival and Liberia (LIR) for the departure. Trips can be designed around either airport. - Spend the day hiking near the lodge and river. This is a remote area, no shops, no stores, bars, or restaurants, you will be surrounded by nature and cut off from the hustle and bustle.

This package as with any of our packages can work any time of the year. Weather changes from area to area throughout the year, with careful planning you can avoid any headaches. Rafting is always best in the green season months of May-November, with the rains come full rivers waiting for adventurers! Mountains: With the elevation, you have sunny warm/hot days with cooler evenings. Cargo shorts or comfortable clothing works for day time. If you are sensitive to cold, long sleeve shirts or a light jacket or sweater paired with long pants can be in order. Avoid denim, the material takes forever to dry in the tropics. You will want secure shoes for activities, and clothes appropriate to your tour schedule.
Cloud Forests - Cloud forests can be at a very high elevation. If your trip takes you into the clouds, prepare for wet weather and the temperature to drop at higher elevations. Rain gear is a must, nothing elaborate, a poncho will work well. You will want a light jacket and long pants, it can be windy and it is always damp.
Beaches: Our coasts are as you might expect, hot and humid. Pack as though you are heading to any beach destination. Shorts, bathing suits, towels, flip flops, and plenty sun block. The sun here on the equator is a lot stronger than you may be used to back home and you need to take that into account.
Highlands - If your trip takes you to places like Mount Chirripó, this is some of the most extreme weather we have here in Costa Rica. You will need close to winter gear for the drops in temperature at extreme elevations. daytime temperatures near Chirripó's summit range between 4–18˚C (40˚–65˚F). Nighttime temperatures can drop below 0˚C (32˚F)

Day 2 – Alajuela – Siquirres – (B)
- White Water Rafting to Lodge - You take on the Pacuare river, a class 3-5 river and one of the best in the world for natural beauty. You’ll experience the intimate nature of the rain forest via the river. The warm water, cascading waterfalls, and opulently lush rainforest with its brilliantly colored plants, animals, and birds make this trip exquisite for your senses. Located on Costa Rica's Atlantic slope, the Pacuare River borders the Talamanca mountain range, home to native Cabecar Indians and an incredible variety of wildlife, including parrots, toucans, deer, jaguars, ocelots, monkeys, butterflies, and more.

Day 3 – Siquirres – (B)

Day 4 – Siquirres – Arenal – (B)
- White Water Rafting Out - You will take on a new section of the Pacuare River as your adventure continues. After your rafting trip at the lunch stop you will break away from the main group and take a private transfer to your next destination, La Fortuna, home to the mighty Arenal Volcano!
- Private Transfer to Arenal - We have some of the best drivers in Costa Rica, they make the trips educational and fun!

Day 5 – Arenal – (B)
- Waterfall Jumping Day - Start off with a heart-pumping rappel down an impressive 80-ft tropical waterfall. You’ll drop into a large, deep pool of incredibly crystal-clear water and have a chance to swim your way onto shore. This will prepare you for the following adrenaline-pumping adventures of this multi-sport canyon adventure. You'll hike through the rain forest to where you’ll reach a continuous series of waterfalls and cliffs. Your professional and experienced guides, will help you push your limits as you jump off 10 to 30-ft waterfalls and cliffs into the deep canyon pools below. This is EXTREME Costa Rica adventure at its finest!
Day 6 – Arenal – (B)
- Mountain Bike Day - There are MANY different options for a Mountain Bike day. Take a waterfall/ river ride, single track madness, or a ride on back country roads with incredible vistas. Depending on how hard you want to push yourself we can match the right tour for you.
Note: There are several tours available in place of this including Stand Up Paddleboard, Kayaking, Jet Ski on Lake Arenal, Cano Negro Boat Tour, Venado Caves, Fishing on lake Arenal, Canyoneering, the possibilities are endless. Day 7 – Arenal – Papagayo – (B)
- Private or Shared transfer to Papagayo - You have the option of shared or private transfers on your trip. Private transfers offer more freedom and are more informative using our bilingual drivers/guides. Private Transfers are equipped with WiFi and we make stops on the way to your destination. Shared shuttles are best when trying to keep the budget as low as possible, they do not make stops and the trip may take a little longer due to pick up and drop off of other travelers on the transfer. Travel Tip: If there are 4 or more in your group, private transfers start to be less expensive per person than many shared shuttle options.

Day 8 – Papagayo – (B)
- Free Day / Optional Tour Day - It is always good to keep a free day in a trip, this way if you see something you want to do while you are here you have the opportunity, or take the day to relax and unwind! If you prefer, we can schedule a tour on free days.
Day 9 – Papagayo – (B)
- Catamaran Boat Tour - Enjoy breathtaking coastlines, see various sea life and do a little snorkeling, our guides have backgrounds in marine biology to help you see more on your water adventure. View beautiful tropical beaches & Romantic spectacular sunsets or beach comb on secluded sandy beaches. Many types of marine life such as dolphins, whales, giant sea turtles and sea birds can be seen. Sunbathe on one of our large "bow trampolines" while watching dolphins play in the bow's wake. Swim and go sea kayaking. Swim or snorkel from one of 3 easy access "snorkel staircases." Snorkel equipment included.
