Just south of Guanacaste, Puntarenas stretches in a long, thin line down the Pacific coast. Full of fantastic attractions, Puntarenas begins to the south with the Osa Peninsula. This one of the most bio-diverse areas in the world with the last remaining low laying rain forest in Central America. The lush peninsula welcomes all to investigate its tropical forests in Corcovado National Park, enjoy whale watching in Drake Bay, dive with sharks on the virtually deserted Cocos Island, and swim off its beautiful beaches.
As you head north you find Dominical, Uvita, and the famous Whales Tail beach. As you head further north you find Manuel Antonio which is one of our country’s most visited national parks. Manuel Antonio is a beachfront rainforest location that lends itself to quiet morning walks and refreshing afternoon swims.
As you continue north up the central Pacific you reach the surf paradise of Playas Jaco and Hermosa. Finally, at its most northern end, Puntarenas boasts the popular Nicoya Peninsula, home to independent surf spots and secluded beaches. This is also where you find one of our Epic Add On's, mass turtle nesting of the Olive Ridlley in Ostional. This is called locally an Arribada, a life changing event.
